Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Designer Stoles collects, why it is processed, how it is protected and the rights available to customers.

2. Information Collected

Designer Stoles may collect:

  • name and telephone or WhatsApp number;
  • delivery address and country;
  • selected item numbers, quantities and order values;
  • invoice number, invoice PDF and payment-reference information;
  • the Terms and Conditions version accepted and acceptance date;
  • custom-design instructions, artwork and correspondence;
  • proof-of-payment information supplied by the customer; and
  • technical logs processed by the website host or security tools.
3. Why Information Is Used

Information is used for specific purposes including:

  • creating and storing the basket and invoice;
  • verifying payment;
  • producing and delivering the order;
  • communicating about design approval, delivery or support;
  • handling returns, complaints and warranty matters;
  • maintaining accounting and transaction records;
  • protecting the website and preventing abuse; and
  • complying with legal obligations.
4. Basket Storage in the Browser

The Shop and Basket use browser storage to remember selected products while the customer moves between pages. This information remains in the customer’s browser until the basket is cleared, the browser storage is removed or the configured storage expires.

Clearing browser data may remove the saved basket.

5. Lawful Processing and Minimal Information

Designer Stoles will process personal information only where there is a lawful basis and will limit collection to information reasonably necessary for the stated purpose.

Order information will not be treated as consent for unrelated marketing.

6. Direct Marketing

Electronic direct marketing will be sent only where permitted by law. Where consent is required, it must be voluntary, specific and informed.

Every direct-marketing message must identify the sender and provide a practical way to object or unsubscribe. An objection or withdrawal of consent will be respected.

7. Sharing of Information

Information may be shared only where reasonably necessary with service providers such as:

  • courier and delivery companies;
  • website hosting, security and technical-support providers;
  • professional accounting, legal or compliance advisers; and
  • public authorities where disclosure is legally required.

Service providers should receive only the information required to perform the relevant service.

8. International Processing

Some website, hosting, email or technical service providers may process information outside South Africa. Reasonable steps should be taken to ensure that any cross-border processing is subject to an adequate legal or contractual protection mechanism.

9. Security

Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards will be used to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, interference, modification or disclosure.

No online system can be guaranteed completely secure. Suspected security incidents should be reported promptly to amanda@designerstoles.co.za.

10. Retention

Personal information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or for a longer period where accounting, tax, legal, dispute-resolution or record-keeping obligations require it.

Records that are no longer required should be securely deleted, destroyed or de-identified.

11. Customer Rights

Subject to applicable law, a person may request:

  • confirmation of whether personal information is held;
  • access to personal information;
  • correction or updating of inaccurate information;
  • deletion or destruction where legally permitted;
  • objection to certain processing; and
  • withdrawal of marketing consent.

Requests may require reasonable identity verification.

A person may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) through the official complaint channels published by the Regulator.

13. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated prospectively. The effective date and version displayed on the page identify the current version.
